Private TRIPTYCH Commission - from the Collection: Chasm

chasm /ˈkazəm/

a deep fissure in the earth, rock, or another surface.

As an adopted daughter, my art is the thread that binds together my heritage, unseen roots and upbringing - a collaboration of nature and nurture. While I draw inspiration from the mountains and waterways of my home in the Pacific Northwest, I enjoy tying in names and titles from a bloodline I’ll never fully know - Italian cities I've never seen or minerals abundantly found on the tribal plains lands of my birthmother’s people.

As a self taught artist, each collection I have created is a direct reflection of my current state of being, my past and my presence in the universe – wild and free flowing connectedness to nature from the Native American blood that courses through my veins, a thin drift of opulent gold leaf gilding from my Italian heritage and always bold linear accents of my structured and conservative upbringing driving courageously through it all. Three separate and seemingly conflicting cultures and traits that make me and my work diverse and unique, calmly chaotic, spicy, moody, connected and earthy.

This is the way I discover myself, the beautiful conundrum I am proud to be.
